About Us
It started with a dream and a visit to
Coeur d’Alene. Gene Ansbaugh managed a lighting showroom in Western Washington. During his long career
also owned a lighting representative business. In 1995 Gene and brother-in-law
Lew Smith, a banker, were both at
career crossroads and took a chance by purchasing the former Goodman’s Lighting and Fan Company
on Government Way. The name was changed to Idaho Lights.
They expanded by purchasing Evergreen
Lighting in the Spokane Valley in 1999. In 2006 they added a second location for Idaho Lights in
Sandpoint. 2007 brought about the construction of a new
state of the art showroom at Hanley and Highway 95 in Coeur
d’Alene.
It is definitely a family owned and
operated business with Lew’s wife Darlene, son Ian, Gene’s wife Dianne, daughter Nicole and ninety two
year old father-in-law, Jesse all involved with the business at each of the three locations.
All
three stores are a Lighting One Showroom which means
we are one of the top three buying groups in the United States and Canada. With
that comes a larger selection featuring many exclusive brands you won’t find anywhere
else, at great prices. Idaho Lights and Evergreen Lighting also offer lamp
repair service and extra long life bulbs. |
